The next time you hesitate to buy custom auto parts to sup up your vehicle, just remember, your need for speed and style could be worse! One man's desire for the perfect custom vehicle has gone well beyond custom autoparts and into a completely novel car design. That vehicle is the Equus Bass 770, which made its debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in mid-January, and it is quite the vehicle.

The Story

The complete details surrounding the creation of the Equus Bass 770 are a bit sketchy. So far, Equus has yet to reveal the name of the man whose vision gave way to this revolutionary design that combines some of the highest performance car parts ever assembled in a vehicle. We know only that he is a European businessman who couldn't quite find a muscle car to suit his fancy. So instead of just upgrading and making some modifications with simple car accessories, such as custom headlights. He started his own car company to have his dream design built entirely by hand.

The Details

The Equus Bass 770 is capable of speeds up to 200 miles per hour and sells for a mind blowing $250,000 or $300,000 with the optional custom kit that includes some additional auto accessories to make the car even more unique. In appearance, the vehicle is very similar to the 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback, particularly in its front end and headlight design. The vehicle naturally features top-of-the-line automotive parts, including:

- General Motors LS9 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine

- General Motors Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension

- Brembo carbon ceramic brakes

- Aluminum chassis and aluminum body lined with carbon fiber

- 640-horsepower 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox

The classic looks of the head lights may make it seem so much like a Mustang or a Plymouth GTX, but don't be fooled. This beauty will go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds. There is truly no other vehicle like it on the road.

The Company

Equus has been working on the Bass 770 for 6 years. Based in Rochester Hills, Michigan, the company employs just 25 people. Its name comes from the Latin word for horse. The company intends to specialize only in high-end, high performance autos with every part from the engine to each head light placed by hand to ensure quality.

So far, Equus has reportedly sold about 20 of the Bass 770 super car. None of the orders have begun to be built yet, but the company plans to deliver them within the next 3 months. While you might be envious of the $250K dream car, keep in mind that you can turn any vehicle into the car of your dreams with the right auto parts.
